I discovered a chap named David Levy in a Photoshop magazine while in Hong Kong, and a couple pieces of his inspired me to do this...
I realised that the period of my life where I improved the most in drawing, was when I was copying my favourite pictures out of weekly BUGS / DINOSAURS magazines. Lately I've been real hard on myself, and in my head, I should be at a stage where I can produce something good on my own! Man up! You're 21 now, no excuse, etc. So I'm trying my best to expel these thoughts, and just get back to why i started drawing in the first place. For fun, getting inspired, copying styles and developing my own. There is no doubt in my mind that copying those cartoon bugs (those magazines were awesome) and comic books made be better, on my own.
So this piece was sort of a spring board maybe (although Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, and Team Fortress 2 are the ceiling fan directly above it)? It wasn't a direct copy of course, but i definately got alot from Levy when doing it. Was really good practise and made me feel like arting again. So thanks David.
Oh yer, the image is actually for a friend of mines band's, album cover. Maybe.
